Swiss asylum statistics: applications, decisions, numbers

In August 2026, 1,896 new asylum applications were made in Switzerland (August 2025: 2,184). The SEM completed 2,328 cases and granted asylum in 565; the protection rate was 47.8 %. At the end of August 2026, 135,953 people were in the asylum process, 73,850 of them with protection status S and 42,075 temporarily admitted (SEM).
