AHV pension 2026 and 2027: 13th pension, amounts, reference age
In December 2026 the 13th AHV (OASI) pension is paid for the first time: automatically to everyone who receives an old-age pension in December, as one twelfth of the old-age pensions received during the year. In 2026 the old-age pension ranges from CHF 1,260 to 2,520 a month, from 2027 from CHF 1,280 to 2,560.

Who receives the 13th AHV pension?
- Everyone entitled to an old-age pension in December; it is paid automatically with the December pension, no application needed. ahv-iv.ch
- Widows’, widowers’ and orphans’ pensions and disability (IV) pensions are still paid twelve times; an IV pension gives the 13th pension once it is converted into an old-age pension at the reference age. faq.bsv.admin.ch
- Anyone who did not receive an old-age pension all year gets one twelfth of the pensions paid. ahv-iv.ch
- Swiss citizens receive it abroad too; for other nationals the same rules as for the old-age pension apply. faq.bsv.admin.ch
- The 13th AHV pension does not reduce supplementary benefits (EL); it is not counted in their calculation. bsv.admin.ch

Reference age and AHV 21
The reference age for men is 65. For women it rises step by step to 65; the pension starts on the first day of the month after the reference age is reached. ahv-iv.ch

Pension supplement for women of the transitional generation (CHF a month)
Women born 1961 to 1969 who do not draw their pension early receive a lifelong supplement. It depends on the relevant average annual income (up to 4 times, up to 5 times or more than 5 times the minimum annual old-age pension); it is not subject to the couples’ cap and does not count for the 13th pension. ahv-iv.ch

Early and deferred retirement
- The pension can be drawn one or two years early, at the earliest from age 63. It is reduced for life: by 6.8% for one year, by 13.6% for two years. fedlex.admin.ch
- Deferral is possible for one to five years (up to 70). The pension rises for life: by 5.2% after one year up to 31.5% after five years. Deferral must be declared at the latest one year after reaching the reference age. fedlex.admin.ch
- Part of the pension (20 to 80 percent) can also be drawn early or deferred. ahv-iv.ch

Contributions 2026 and 2027
- Employees: AHV 8.7%, IV 1.4%, EO 0.5%, together 10.6% of salary, split equally (5.3%) between employee and employer. ahv-iv.ch
- Self-employed: together 10.0% (AHV 8.1%); for incomes between CHF 10,100 and 60,500 a lower rate from 5.371% applies. ahv-iv.ch
- Minimum contribution for the self-employed and non-employed: CHF 530 in 2026, CHF 541 from 2027. AHV and IV rates stay the same in 2027. fedlex.admin.ch
Applying for the pension
- Apply three to four months before reaching the reference age (or before the early start you want), with form 318.370. ahv-iv.ch
- The responsible office is the compensation office that last collected your contributions; if your spouse already receives a pension, their office; without contributions, the cantonal office where you live. ahv-iv.ch
- Early retirement must be applied for by the last day of the previous month at the latest; it cannot be backdated. ahv-iv.ch
- People living abroad apply to the Swiss Compensation Office (SCO). zas.admin.ch
